The Best of Baby Lady…in 537 words

It was brought to my attention that my About Me page is rather, umm, boring.  I started to add some more personal information on there, but then decided to just make it into a post itself.  I’ll be putting this into my About Me section soon, but for now, here’s a little more insight into the lady behind the Best of Baby blog!

me and my sweet hubby, allen

We’ve been married for 5 years and he’s without a doubt my best friend.  I’ve never met a person more kind, loving, hardworking, and amazing as him.  I’m so blessed that God chose me to be his helpmeet.

Jay is a sweet, goofy, and incredibly bright little toddler.  He’s an observer…taking in everything and forgetting nothing.  He’s also a great conversationalist and I love to just talk to him and see where his little toddler imagination takes him!

our newest little squishy

This darling doll has stolen the hearts of everyone in our family.  She gives us the biggest smiles and coos when we make eye contact with her…and she’s slowly learning to tolerate her big brother’s “affection”.  The word is still out on whether or not we’ll have another redhead, but it’s leaning towards yes (though much darker than her brother’s).

and a few random details about me

-I’m a transplanted Midwesterner learning to live the Southern life.  I’ve gotten on board with the slower pace of things, the obsession with Chick Fil A, and even country music…but man, boiled peanuts?  I mean, who even thought of those?! The first (and only) time I tried one, I thought I put a wet toe in my mouth.  Gross.

-I’m an aspiring polyglot.  Currently, I speak 4 languages (Romanian, German, English and Spanish) and am trying to learn a 5th (French).  I’m a huge nerd when it comes to languages. In college, I liked to transcribe Spanish texts in the International Phonetic Alphabet…just for fun.

-I’m trying to raise bilingual children (in English and German), but it’s proving harder than I thought because no one else around me speaks it.  I started off well, but nowadays if I speak in German, my toddler’s usual response is “Huh? What mommy say?”

-I love ballet and running.  I danced ballet my whole life, but stopped about a year ago because of some changes at my dance studio.  I started running in college and much to my surprise, became addicted to it.  My ideal running distance is 8 miles…enough to give me that long distance high, but not so much that I can’t walk the next day.

-I admire people that can craft, but me?  I’m the antithesis of a crafter…I just can’t stand it.  I know that’s almost cause for banishment in the mommy blogging world, but I’d honestly rather scrub my toilets than craft.

-I try to do the whole “natural living” thing (you know, cloth diapers, breastfeeding, natural products, etc.).  Some might call it being a “crunchy mama”, but I try to avoid that term because when I said that around my son, he said “Why is mommy crunchy?” with a very confused look on his face.

WOW. 5 languages! That’s awesome! I know a little Spanish and that’s all I can handle 🙂 I do hope I can teach my son the basics in Spanish, but we’ll see how that goes when he gets older.

You have such a beautiful family and congratulations on 5 years of marriage!

I think it’s so cool you speak so many languages! And the southern thing, I have lived in the south almost my entire life and never had a boiled peanut! The Chick fil a thing though… now that place is amazing 🙂

Things i have always told people is that while searching for a good internet electronics retail store, there are a few variables that you have to remember to consider. First and foremost, you should really make sure to look for a reputable and in addition, reliable retail store that has received great assessments and cloaisficstian from other people and business sector leaders. This will make certain you are getting through with a well-known store that gives good services and help to the patrons. Many thanks for sharing your opinions on this website.
